Buddhist way of Meditation

The practice of meditation supports to decrease defilements of
greed (lobha), anger (dosa) and ignorance (moha), and whoever train in this
way repeatedly, will get peace of mind, live in harmony with environmental
phenomenon and pass away quietly.

Or

This is an easy method of meditation for those people who are
grasping the concept that sitting in meditation and doing for mental
development are so tired and very hard. You can follow this way very simply
and very easily neglecting wherever you are arriving or what you are doing.

Stay in calm position, relax all nerves throughout a whole body, and at least even one nerve should not be unease. (If you can't reduce the nerves, you will lose your energy in a few moments and it will cause nervous problems, and you also will be looked like more older than this present age.
Firstly, give attention on aggregates (physical and mental groups). (Keep your mind purified cutting off all sensual pleasures from outside). At the moment while you are doing so, you will come to know something obviously from eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. That knowledge (knowing) is also whirling in the circle of appearing and disappearing such as a new one appears and disappears, and again another a new one appears and disappears.
It is ruling continuously and constantly. It is very fast and happens even one zillion in a second, and we can't render it by our ordinary knowledge or brain since it is very fast. But what we know is to be let as "just being/ just happening" continuously and not to penetrate into it. And the knowledge on the knowing is also to be let as "just knowing" continuously as to not to attach anything appeared in the mind. Although you have known something in the
mind, you have no time even to interpret the exact meaning of what you know because mental function is fast regulating in the circle of appearing and disappearing.

Don't accept any mental aspect wether it is good or bad. If you accept it, you will be sad or worried because it links with attachment. And how will you be peaceful or quiet if you are feeling sad or unhappy? When you get more practical experiences, you will get joyful and tranquillized .Therefore, you are obliged to be self-peace first, so that you can share peace and happiness to other people/ all human beings all over the globe.

If self is not free from grief and sorrowness, what you can share to other people are only grief and sorrowness. When you can discard more and more unpurified mind of greed, anger and delusion, you will right understand and realize the true knowledge or the true life.

I wish you to practice like this;

" Wherever you are arriving or what you are doing or thinking or feeling , you should give up on everything appeared in the mind as "just being" or "just happening". When you get more experiences, you will admire on the real truths and will be peaceful, and so you can share an absolute happiness and tranquillity to the other."

Vassa 2008

Vassa
2008
Vassa also called Rains Retreat, is the traditional retreat during the rainy season lasting for three lunar months from July to October. During this time Buddhist monks remain in a single place, generally in their temples. In some monasteries, monks dedicate the Vassa to intensive meditation practice. During Vassa, many Buddhist lay people reinvigorate their spiritual training and adopt more ascetic practices, such as giving up meat, alcohol, or smoking (Vassa is sometimes known as "Buddhist Lent”). Commonly, the number of years a monk
has spent in monastic life is expressed by counting up the number of Vassas he has observed.
The origins of the Vassa tradition are ascribed to early Buddhist times. Gotama Buddha ordered his disciples to observe a pre-existing practice whereby holy men avoided travelling for a three month period during the rainy season, in order to avoid damaging crops. Asalha Puja or “Dhamma Day" commemorates the Buddha’s first sermon, Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, given at the Deer Park in Benares to the First Five Disciples, advising Buddhists to practice the Middle Path, avoiding the 2 extremes of sensual indulgence and self-mortification, to realize the Four Noble Truths, namely, Suffering, Cause of Suffering, End of Suffering, and Middle Path to end suffering. This resulted in the founding of the Buddhist sangha, as Kondanna, one of those Five Disciples attained first level of enlightenment, that is a Sotapana, thus completed the Triple Gem of Buddha (the Teacher), Dharma (the teaching of the Truth), and Sangha (the Noble Disciples). The day is observed by donating offerings to temples and listening to sermons. The annual Rains retreat (vassa) begins the following day. The end of vassa is marked by joyous celebration. The following month, theKathina ceremony is held, during which the laity gathers to make formal offerings of robe cloth and other requisites to the Sangha.

My Drawing Experience

I look back to my previous time to put down on the paper as our tutor asked us to do a drawing task. Our task is to create a picture according to our connection. I drew three Buddhist monks carrying their bowls on the way to the village to get an offering of food form donor. My memory actually went back to a time of six years ago. This drawing reminded me of my village where i spent up to 18 years. My two brothers and me. At that time we were Buddhist monks. We were sent to the monastery to be traditional novices.
After we finished drawing , I looked around the class and observed how people had put their connection to the drawing. I saw many amazing pictures which were reflections on each background. Seeing my picture , people asked me if it was three kings. I felt surprised and got upset. Who are the three kings?? Later, I realized that they were about asking the three kings from the Christian story.
I started to think how human beings are formed according to environment, background and religions. It helped me a lot to understand the nature of man. For example, if I show my picture to the people from my country , they would know on the spot that they are three Buddhist monks carrying bowls. I benefited from this. The understanding of how we, as humans are related to our background. It helped me a lot to open up my mind or my heart to welcome, mature and understand every human being. This session had taught me how important it is to see both side.

"Somewhere in a corner of everyone's
soul life there sits
a so-called abnormality"(Holtzapfel)

I agree with the above quotation because it is trueth that our human nature even at its best has its defect, faults, and infections. From this spring board in gaining awareness of our won personal weakness, we should be learning to grow spiritually althought it is sometimes difficult and palinful. However, we should welcome the opportutunity for positive change in this area.
